Essex County College

Essex County College provides substance abuse counseling, referrals to local rehab centers and drug prevention programs, including seminars, classroom modules and workshops. Rutgers University – Newark

The Alcohol & Other Drug Assistance Program at Rutgers-Newark provides students with substance abuse assessments, consultations and treatment referrals. Its E-Toke and E-Chug Surveys assess an individual’s marijuana and alcohol use and suggest what to do next. On-campus 12-step meetings, anti-drug workshops, alcohol and drug screening services are also available.

Seton Hall University

Seton Hall University offers eCheckup to Go programs, aimed to motivate students to reduce their alcohol consumption using their own risk factors. It offers the CHOICES program, designed to help students understand the facts and risks associated with heavy drinking. The school also distributes literature on substance abuse prevention and hosts an anti-drug poster campaign every year.

New Jersey Institute of Technology

The New Jersey Institute of Technology offers substance abuse screenings, assessments, outpatient counseling and referral services to 12-step programs and treatment centers. The NJIT Crime Prevention Unit addresses alcohol laws in its Alcohol and Party Awareness presentation, held during student orientation. The school’s Employee Assistance Program offers substance abuse counseling sessions to its employees and their family members.

Caldwell University

Caldwell University offers anti-drug workshops, programs, alcohol-screening services and a substance awareness resource library, which includes CDs, DVDs and literature on alcohol and drug-related topics. Caldwell provides a “think before you drink” birthday card to students celebrating their 21st birthday, anti-drug material for parents and helpline services. Montclair State University

Paterson Coalition Against Substance Abuse at Montclair State University is a coalition of individuals working together to reduce underage alcohol and drug abuse. Boys and Girls Club of Newark

ASPIRA of New Jersey

ASPIRA of New Jersey is a leg of a national Hispanic organization that strives to develop education and leadership skills among young people.
