ADAPT is a coalition dedicated to decreasing underage drinking and prescription medication misuse in Essex County. Boys and Girls Club of Newark
The Boys and Girls Club of Newark features SMART Moves, a drug and alcohol prevention program that helps area youth avoid substance abuse. Participants learn refusal and decision-making skills through discussion and role-playing activities. The program promotes the practice of responsible behavior.
ASPIRA of New Jersey
ASPIRA of New Jersey is a leg of a national Hispanic organization that strives to develop education and leadership skills among young people. Family Connections
Family Connections is an organization providing counseling and prevention services to more than 4,000 children in Essex and surrounding counties each year. It offers substance abuse counseling, psychiatric evaluations, treatment referrals and a Wellness House to combat substance abuse. Its Adolescent Crisis Intervention Program provides information to help young people manage life’s challenges. It also delivers its programs on-site to schools, community centers and homes.
