Who We Are

Drs. Mitchell Eisenberg and Lewis Gold founded Advanced Recovery Systems in December 2013. The longtime business partners led Sheridan Healthcare for more than 20 years before investing in The Recovery Village in Umatilla during the summer of 2013.

ARS expanded significantly in 2015, opening four residential rehab facilities: The Recovery Village at Palmer Lake, Next Generation Village, the Orlando Recovery Center and The Recovery Village Ridgefield.

Today, the company operates six residential rehab facilities that are open to the general public and one residential facility for members of the International Association of Firefighters. ARS also operates a community of three recovery residences and an outpatient facility that specializes in treating eating disorders. The company employs more than 750 people across the United States.

All ARS facilities are licensed by their respective states. Every facility that opened before 2017 is accredited by The Joint Commission, an independent nonprofit organization. The IAFF Center for Excellence and The Recovery Village Columbus are awaiting or preparing for Joint Commission accreditation.

How We’re Different

Advanced Recovery Systems provides patient-centered, evidence-based health care in an environment that empowers individuals on their path to recovery.

Allison Walsh describes the benefits of individualized treatment and why Advanced Recovery Systems uses a patient-centered approach.

Our three-pronged approach to comprehensive addiction treatment addresses the underlying causes — including co-occurring disorders, traumatic memories and emotional problems — of substance use disorders.
  • Therapeutic Learning: We teach clients about the underlying causes of addiction and how negative emotions and thoughts reinforce negative behaviors.
  • Cognitive Healing: We help clients change the way they perceive, think and reason by helping them identify negative emotions and replace them with positive thoughts and feelings.
  • Medication Assistance: When appropriate, our medical staff provides patients with medications that reduce cravings and ease symptoms of withdrawal.
ARS staff tailors plans to each individual’s unique needs and creates comprehensive aftercare plans that set individuals up for success after treatment. We also provide a robust family-based program. Our staff works closely with clients and their families before, during and after treatment. Our goal is to ensure that our clients continue their recovery even after they leave the facility.

Our Staff

The teams at our facilities comprise experienced health professionals who are leaders in their respective fields. Staff members at ARS facilities include:
  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Therapists
  • Behavioral technicians
  • Dietitians
  • Case workers
  • Educational counselors
Medical directors, therapists and nurses have graduate degrees in relevant mental health fields, and all staff members possess required licenses and certifications.
