Promises Atlanta provides a comfortable and supportive environment for adults beginning their recovery journey. Located on a peaceful three-acre campus in Dacula, Georgia, the facility allows patients to step away from everyday triggers and focus on healing. Comfortable accommodations, welcoming common areas, outdoor spaces, fitness opportunities and recreational activities support overall well-being throughout treatment. Comprehensive care options include medical detox, residential substance use treatment, residential mental health treatment and outpatient programs that provide support through different stages of recovery.
Excellence You Can Trust
Promises Atlanta is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. These distinctions reflect the facility’s commitment to maintaining established standards for patient safety, treatment quality and behavioral healthcare. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, psychiatric providers, nurses, therapists and behavioral health professionals experienced in treating substance use and mental health conditions. Together, they provide evidence-based, trauma-informed care tailored to each patient’s individual needs and recovery goals.
We believe effective treatment must address the whole person rather than focusing only on the symptoms of substance use or mental health conditions. Through an individualized, trauma-informed approach, our team helps patients explore underlying concerns, strengthen emotional regulation and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.
Treatment combines medical and psychiatric care with individual counseling, group therapy, family involvement and practical skill development. This comprehensive approach helps patients build a stronger foundation for improved mental health, sustained recovery and a more fulfilling future.
Levels of Care
At Promises Atlanta, our team conducts a comprehensive assessment to understand each patient’s symptoms, history and treatment needs. This information is used to develop an individualized care plan and determine the most appropriate starting level of treatment. As patients progress, they may transition into programs offering increased independence while maintaining clinical structure and support.
Medical Detox
For many patients seeking recovery from drugs or alcohol, treatment begins with medical detoxification. During this process, substances are safely eliminated from the body under continuous supervision from medical professionals. The length and symptoms of detox can vary based on the substances used, the duration of use and other health factors. Our medical team works to make the process as safe and comfortable as possible, using medications when clinically appropriate.
Residential Rehab for Substance Abuse
Residential treatment, also known as inpatient treatment, provides a structured environment where patients live at the facility and receive around-the-clock support. Patients participate in counseling, group therapy, medical and psychiatric services and therapeutic activities designed to address the underlying causes and effects of substance use.By temporarily stepping away from the pressures and triggers of everyday life, patients can concentrate fully on developing coping strategies, improving emotional well-being and preparing for continued recovery.
Residential Mental Health Treatment
Residential mental health treatment provides intensive support for adults experiencing primary mental health conditions. Patients live at the facility while receiving structured therapeutic and psychiatric care in an environment designed to promote safety, stability and healing.
Individualized treatment helps patients better understand their symptoms, strengthen emotional regulation and develop practical skills for managing mental health challenges. Separate residential programming is available for men and women.
Partial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides structured treatment with greater independence than residential care. Patients participate in therapy, clinical programming and skills development during the day while beginning to practice greater autonomy outside scheduled treatment hours.PHP may serve as a transition from residential care or as a direct point of entry for patients whose needs do not require round-the-clock residential support. Boarding accommodations may be available for patients participating in this level of care.
Intensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) offers continued therapy and support with fewer treatment hours than PHP. This increased flexibility allows patients to apply coping strategies and recovery skills in their daily lives while remaining connected to clinical care.Individual counseling, group sessions and skill-building activities may remain important components of treatment as patients return to work, family responsibilities and community life.
Aftercare Planning
Recovery continues after a patient completes formal treatment. Before discharge, the clinical team develops an individualized aftercare plan designed to help patients navigate challenges, maintain progress and reduce the risk of relapse or symptom recurrence.Aftercare recommendations may include follow-up appointments, continued therapy, psychiatric services, peer support groups and connections to community resources. Patients may also transition into another appropriate level of care based on their ongoing clinical needs.
Types of Therapy Provided
Our evidence-based treatment approach combines clinical research with individualized care for substance use and mental health conditions. Patients may participate in one-on-one counseling, group therapy and family sessions as clinically appropriate. Each treatment plan is tailored to the patient’s needs and may include therapeutic approaches such as:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT helps patients recognize unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may contribute to substance use or emotional distress. Patients learn to identify triggers, reconsider unhealthy beliefs and practice healthier responses to difficult situations.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT teaches patients how to manage intense emotions, tolerate distress and respond to challenges more effectively. By combining acceptance with positive behavior change, patients can strengthen emotional regulation and improve their relationships.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR): EMDR helps patients process traumatic experiences and reduce the distress associated with painful memories. When clinically appropriate, this approach can help patients address the effects of trauma that may contribute to mental health symptoms or substance use.
Trauma-Informed Care: Trauma-informed care recognizes how past experiences can affect a person’s thoughts, emotions, relationships and behaviors. Treatment emphasizes emotional and physical safety while helping patients develop coping skills, rebuild trust and move forward without being defined by their trauma.
