Why Choose The Ranch Tennessee?

We believe effective treatment should address the whole person rather than focusing only on the symptoms of addiction or mental health conditions. Our individualized approach considers each patient’s physical, emotional, relational and spiritual well-being while helping them understand the underlying factors contributing to their challenges. Treatment combines medical and psychiatric support with individual counseling, group therapy, experiential activities and practical life-skills development. Gender-specific residences and programming allow patients to build meaningful peer connections while working on emotional regulation, healthy relationships, relapse prevention and long-term wellness.

Levels of Care

At The Ranch Tennessee, our clinical team conducts a comprehensive assessment to understand each patient’s symptoms, history and treatment needs. This information guides the development of an individualized care plan and determines the most appropriate starting level of treatment. As patients progress, they may transition into programs that offer increased independence while maintaining clinical structure and support. ...

Medical Detox

For many patients beginning recovery from drugs or alcohol, treatment starts with medical detoxification. During this process, substances are safely eliminated from the body under continuous supervision from medical professionals. The length and symptoms of detox vary based on the substances used, the duration of use and other health factors. Our medical team works to make the detox process as safe and comfortable as possible, using medications when clinically appropriate. Detox at The Ranch Tennessee is provided as the beginning of a continued treatment program rather than as a stand-alone service. ...

Residential Rehab Treatment

Residential rehab treatment provides a structured environment where patients live on campus and receive around-the-clock support. Patients participate in counseling, group therapy, medical services, experiential activities and practical skill development designed to address the underlying causes and effects of substance use. Men and women live and participate in treatment within separate, gender-specific communities. By stepping away from daily triggers and responsibilities, patients can focus fully on developing coping strategies, improving emotional well-being and preparing for continued recovery. Specialized residential support is also available for adult men experiencing concerns related to compulsive sexual behavior, intimacy and relationships. ...

Residential Mental Health Treatment

Residential mental health treatment provides intensive support for adults experiencing primary mental health conditions. Patients live on campus while receiving structured psychiatric care, therapy and clinical support in an environment designed to promote safety, stability and healing. Individualized treatment helps patients better understand their symptoms, process difficult experiences, strengthen emotional regulation and develop practical tools for managing mental health challenges. Separate residences and programming are available for men and women. ...

Partial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides structured treatment with greater independence than residential care. Patients continue participating in therapy, clinical programming and skills development while beginning to take on more responsibility outside scheduled treatment hours. PHP may serve as a transition from residential treatment or an appropriate starting point for patients whose needs do not require the structure of round-the-clock residential care. Support is available for both substance use and mental health conditions. ...

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) provides continued therapy and support with fewer treatment hours than PHP. This increased flexibility allows patients to apply coping strategies, communication skills and healthy routines in their daily lives while remaining connected to clinical care. Individual counseling, group therapy and skills-based programming help patients maintain progress as they return to work, family responsibilities and community life. IOP is available for both substance use and mental health treatment. ...

Aftercare Planning

Recovery and improved mental health continue beyond formal treatment. Before discharge, the clinical team helps each patient develop an individualized aftercare plan designed to support continued progress and reduce the risk of relapse or symptom recurrence. Aftercare recommendations may include continued therapy, psychiatric services, peer support groups, recovery meetings and connections to community resources. Ongoing alumni support can also help patients remain connected to a community that understands the challenges and successes of recovery.

Types of Therapy Provided

Our evidence-based treatment approach combines clinical expertise with experiential and trauma-informed care. Patients may participate in one-on-one counseling, group therapy and family support as clinically appropriate. Each treatment plan is tailored to the patient’s needs and may include therapeutic approaches such as:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT helps patients identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that may contribute to substance use or emotional distress. Patients learn to recognize triggers, reconsider unhealthy beliefs and practice healthier responses to difficult situations.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT teaches patients how to manage intense emotions, tolerate distress and respond to challenges more effectively. By balancing acceptance with positive behavior change, patients can strengthen emotional regulation and improve their relationships.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR): EMDR helps patients process traumatic experiences and reduce the distress associated with painful memories. When clinically appropriate, this approach can help patients address the effects of trauma that may contribute to mental health symptoms or substance use.
  • Equine and Experiential Therapy: Equine and experiential therapies help patients practice recovery skills through guided activities rather than conversation alone. Working with horses and participating in structured outdoor exercises can help patients build trust, improve communication, strengthen confidence and become more aware of their emotional responses.
