The Recovery Village provides direction for whole-person healing with the Weekly Recovery Compass. This series of four assessments allows clinicians to evaluate each client’s progress during the early stages of recovery by measuring:
Symptoms of depression
Levels of anxiety
Sleep quality
Substance cravings
By identifying and addressing possible setbacks, clinicians can adjust client care plans in real time to help build a healthier foundation for sobriety.
“Columbus, like many areas in the United States, has a huge need for addiction treatment. I’m really excited about the opportunity to help this state. I think we’ll be able to bring a whole new treatment regimen to Ohio. What I love about
our program is the continuum of care from detox all the way to intensive outpatient. I don’t think many programs have that. They might just have residential. They may only have detox. We have the full continuum of care.”
– Dr. Kevin Wandler, Medical Director, Advanced Recovery Systems
Types of Therapy We Provide
Our evidence-based therapies are based on decades of research and experience treating substance use disorders. These therapies are proven to help individuals recover from addiction and maintain sobriety. Your treatment plan will be customized to include treatment options that fit your needs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT is one of the most effective treatments for substance use disorders. Clients learn to detect risky situations, recognize emotions associated with problematic behavior, identify negative thoughts and reshape their thoughts into a positive mindset.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical behavioral therapy, also called DBT, is a form of CBT that teaches people to accept unpleasant thoughts and feelings. After accepting feelings and emotions, they practice changing behaviors to achieve their goals.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, more commonly referred to as EMDR, helps clients resolve distress associated with trauma. The therapy teaches the brain to reprocess traumatic memories to resolve problematic or unnecessary emotions.
Alternative Therapies
In addition to standard therapies, you’ll have access to alternative treatments such as yoga therapy and art therapy. If you choose and when medically appropriate, you can participate in family therapy sessions over the phone, or in person.
Equine Therapy with PBJ Connections
In partnership with PBJ Connections, a nonprofit mental and behavioral health care provider, we offer off-site equine therapy sessions to a select number of clients once a week for up to six weeks. During equine therapy, clients care for horses under the supervision of mental health professionals.
Clients do not ride the horses. “It’s a program that follows a specific model of equine-assisted psychotherapy that’s very experiential and metaphorical,” said Holly Jedlicka, executive director of PBJ Connections. “The clients are actually projecting their thoughts and feelings and emotions onto the horses, and the horses in turn are giving them very direct feedback.”
Equine therapy promotes accountability, self-esteem and problem-solving skills. The therapy is one of a number of approaches that may be included in your comprehensive treatment plan.
What Our Treatment Programs Include
Our multidisciplinary team specializes in helping clients with a variety of treatment requirements. Our specialists include doctors, nurses, behavioral counselors, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, physical trainers, dietitians and mentors. As you progress through treatment, you’ll transition through each phase with ease.
Medical Detox
Most people begin recovery with medical detox. Depending on the substance and the duration of substance use, detox can last for several days or weeks. We make detox as comfortable as possible by providing 24/7 monitoring, a safe environment and medications when appropriate.
Residential Rehab
As you transition from detox to formal treatment, we continue to provide around-the-clock supervision while introducing counseling and therapy. You’ll learn about the underlying causes of substance use, and you’ll work with therapists and peers to build recovery skills.
Partial Hospitalization
When you’re ready for more independence, you’ll have the option of receiving partial hospitalization programming. You’ll continue to receive counseling and therapy during the day, with more freedom. Most clients continue to live on-site during this level of care.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Our intensive outpatient program provides even more independence than PHP. You’ll receive fewer hours of recovery programming, and you’ll have an opportunity to practice coping skills outside of the treatment center. You’ll continue to receive medication management, counseling and support group access during IOP.
Outpatient
When you’re ready for fewer hours of counseling or programming, you can transition into outpatient treatment. The program allows you to increase independence and privacy while maintaining access to support. We offer flexible programs designed to treat your needs as you transition out of treatment.
Aftercare
Recovery is a lifelong journey, and we prepare you for that life. We’ll help you develop a plan to find sober housing, access to appropriate medications, local support groups and a personal therapist, if necessary.
Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders
Our clients often require treatment for multiple mental health concerns. We treat each disease simultaneously to provide comprehensive health care.
Treatment for co-occurring disorders allows clients to understand the underlying causes of substance use and teaches healthy skills to cope with or overcome mental health issues.
