Why Narconon Fresh Start Works

There are many reasons why Narconon Fresh Start Programs are successful in treating addiction year after year since 1966 and have consistently produced the highest success rates in the field of rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol. Not for Profit Centers & Time Variable Programs

The first key factor is Narconon Fresh Start is a Not for Profit 501c3 organization and is set up solely with the intentions and objectives to help individuals and families turn their lives around. This may seem small but unfortunately most Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers and Facilities are "For Profit" and employ "cost effective" group therapy and profitable "drug substitution" modalities that offer little or no success for your loved one. One major ingredient of the success and freedom gained from being a not for profit entity lies in that the program is time variable and not set at 30, or 60, or 90 days of treatment but on the rule and premise that it takes as long as it takes to rehabilitate an individual and program fees work on one flat rate instead of by time. Generally program participants fall somewhere into a three to five month timeframe to complete the program, but some program participants will need longer to gain success. This "time variable" feature is not practiced in most treatment centers because it is not cost effective or profit oriented.

Non Group Therapy Individualized Approach

The next key ingredient to our treatment modality is based on the Individualized Rehabilitation Approach as opposed to the common "Group Therapy Approach." At Narconon Fresh Start we treat and rehabilitate each individuals addiction, life, family, friends, issues, problems and areas that need both change and improvement and it all happens and takes place while they are in treatment, not when they leave and are left on their own. We have teams of Course Supervisors, Case Supervisors, Registered Addictions Specialists and Life Skills Counselors that work with each program participant on a rigorous schedule to handle their particular and specific issues and needs. Each location is heavily staffed to accomplish this and there will normally be more than one staff member for every two program participants which is another freedom of being a not for profit organization. This individualized approach is not practiced at most treatment centers that typically will employ a group therapy modality where there is one Counselor and ten to thirty five program participants all undergoing and sharing the same "Group Therapy Session."

Secluded and Distraction Free Locations

With over 45 years in existence another key to success was found and employed at all Narconon Fresh Start Facilities which is relatively small secluded distraction free environments and locations. It has been found and proven that if the program participant is removed and is away from all influences (both good and bad) and cannot distract themselves or deflect attention to other family members, friends or drug influences; the individual can start to confront themselves and their situation with the guidance and help of the staff and begin the rehabilitation process. This is one of the most overlooked components and largest errors that both families and treatment facilities make when choosing treatment. The family instinct of course is to nurture, support and hand hold the person with the addiction while in treatment. Unfortunately this is counterproductive to the individual growth, confront, maturity and success.

The greatest change in demonstrated ability of the program participant occurs during the Cognitive Behavioral Modification Rehabilitation and Life Skills Rehabilitation and Technology that are critical to a program participant staying drug and alcohol free. When program participants arrive their responsibility level is at an all-time low. They have manipulated people and situations and done many things to "feed" their addiction that they are not proud of. They have hurt the people that they love the most and done and said things that they regret. Their morals, values, and ethics have gone by the way side. They are carrying around guilt, anger and shame that needs to be worked out confronted, looked at, talked about, written about and the program participant must go back and look at these harmful events and situations to take responsibility for them so they can move on from them and start to make amends. Here underlying issues are found and resolved, the program participant gains communication skills better than they have ever had, they learn to raise their confront on life and problems and can learn to tackle obstacles and barriers without having to turn to drugs as their coping mechanism. They learn to control themselves and the environment around them so they do not "fall into bad situations", but rather control and decide what situations they will decide to put themselves in.
